Since 2017, in partnership with the New NY Broadband (BB) Project and Governor Cuomo’s office, Armstrong has been working throughout your community to extend broadband internet access to previously underserved communities. The original plan was that the project would be finished at the end of 2019, but we have faced numerous challenges that have resulted in construction and permitting delays.
As many of you know, once we started the permitting process and inspected the polls throughout your district, we found infrastructure that had been neglected for many years. From rotten poles, to broken transformers and insulators, we were honestly shocked at the lack of upkeep and maintenance performed by the utility companies that service your community. After this discovery, the permitting process and negotiations to deal with these issues has severely slowed our construction schedule.
The good news is, it looks as though we are now moving forward. Although this process has been frustrating and disheartening to many involved, especially you – those waiting for service to be available, we want to reaffirm our commitment to delivering reliable, affordable highspeed internet service to the homes, businesses, schools and hospitals that are included in the project map.
For over 60 years, Armstrong has operated as a family run business and we pride ourselves on remaining committed to our core values of integrity and transparency, especially when it comes to our future customers in this community. To support our commitment, on top of the public funds dedicated to this New NY Broadband Program, we have also allocated over $10 million of our own capital to ensure this project is executed and completed to the highest standards. We are grateful for your patience and cooperation on this important project and we promise that we are working diligently with all parties to come to an agreement to move forward quickly and efficiently.
